It seems lately the girls have been really difficult to put to bed. Lots of fussing and crying and not going to sleep and just being difficult in general.
It’s nice to be reminded though that it’s not always like that. The day after her second birthday, I put Mandy to bed and all seemed to be well. But after while, I noticed she definitely wasn’t sleeping. I heard her singing Jesus Loves Me. So I recorded it.
Here’s this morning’s set from Oasis Chorale at BMA Convention. They did four songs:
Abide With Me – arr. Lucy A. Hirt
Hear My Prayer – Moses Hogan
Take My Hand and Lead Me – arr. Larry Nickel
Set Down, Servant – arr. Robert Shaw. One of the solos on this song is done by my friend Ginger Good.
The audience joins the choir on verse 1 of the third song. I included the spoken intro before the last song.
The audio is a little herky-jerky, I don’t know if the sound guys were having a little trouble or what.
So I heard the Oasis Chorale do a short 4-song set tonight. They’re very good, they sounded great. And my buddy Lee Weaver had a great solo on “My God is a Rock” by Parker and Shaw, which he nailed. I love his voice, he’s got a big fat baritone with a really nice cut to it. Lee’s the baritone for By the Way Quartet, check them out over at Gladsongs.com.
Oasis does another set tomorrow morning, then has some kind of workshop in the afternoon. I’m going to try to catch that too I think.
This Fri-Sun is the BMA Convention, here in Goshen this year. I hope to be feeling well enough to attend some of it.
I was just looking on the BMA website for a program (pdf), and here I noticed that they’re going to be streaming some of the sessions on the internet! Wow, I’m impressed.
For those interested in hearing the Oasis Chorale, they’re scheduled to be on the program Friday night about 7:30.
