Undoubtably you’ll recall my vitriolic post on classic rock. I’ve been thinking, and I must be honest. There maybe some exceptions to the rule that classic rock is 100% garbage.
There is one song I’m thinking of that conveys a remarkably profound exhortation applicable to us all. This exquisite lyric is an amazing masterpiece, a rare gem of emotive and touching poetry, the likes of which is far to uncommon in today’s music scene.
My most grandiose and pompous pontifications can’t begin to do this piece justice, so I’ll let my approximation and summary of the lyric speak for itself.

Sounds like the song my friend Harvey told me about. It’s a song of infinite length.
I was born in the USA
I was born in the USA
I was born in the USA
I was born in the USA
I was born in the USA
I was born in the USA
Can I stop now? Has my point been made?

Pathetic

Ha ha! Bruce Springsteen. My college music conductor liked to use him as an example of bowed vocal cords. Your voice will take a trashing for only so long.

To be fair, there’s more to that song than just the chorus. In fact, it’s supposed to be something of a social (liberal) commentary of some kind. If you look at the lyrics, though, they are very, very esoteric.

Yeah. If you can figure out what they mean, be sure to tell me.
I’ll often ask my buddy at work, what does this song mean? He’ll usually tell me. But he didn’t know what to say about this one.
