Heartbeat – A Heart Like Yours
One time long ago I posted about a CD I had received in the mail. I really liked it, and said
I would love to produce/record their next album! I’m definitely going to bid on it and pester them mercilessly.
Well, I did, and they consented to let me assist on their next project.
And now it’s here, available, and you need a copy.
I think this is a great album. Once again they pull off a varied selection of material and do a great job of arranging it and making it their own. Very nice.
That’s one of the things I really like about Heartbeat, and what caught my ear in the first place. They aren’t afraid to put their own unique stamp on their material, and they aren’t afraid to try something new. Their approach is refreshing.
They also have some guests on this recording! Their own Mountain Anthems Chorus backs them up on the last track, “Peace Speaker.” The chorus is from their church, and they’ve all been members for a while.
They also invited AHQ to record a song with them, and we were honored to accept. We did “Fallen Walls, Open Doors” by Keith Lancaster (The Acappella Company). A year and a half ago all of AHQ was back home in OR for Christmas, and we recorded our part of the song then. Heartbeat later added their part, and I think it turned out pretty well. It’s a unique collaboration that I think people will like.
I know firsthand that they worked very hard on this album, and it shows.

Oh yeah, and Heartbeat gave my wife her first album credit!

Lauren, hey, I’m offended. Do you think I would actually desert the fair land of ITF? I stick my nose in here at least several times a week.
By the way, thanks Mr. ITF for the review. Maybe sometime you should do a reality post “Heartbeat – The Real Story” with all the gory details and behind the scenes slop. Your readers would weep. Or perhaps WE should write the reality post, “Behind the Mask of Mr. ITF”, or “The Engineer/Producer From Down Under” (I said “down under” because I didn’t think it would be appropriate to say “hell”in this blog).
Cheers,
Ag

Ok, good to see your still around!!! So basicly, you read, you just don’t post….. Shame shame….. So, I had wanted to ask you (meaning Ag) if you’re going to be at Steve and LeAnn’s wedding…..

The problem with that, Ag, is that “down under” is a nickname for Australia. And no, the two are not synonymous. :-)

“Yes”, to Lauren.
“downundercanbewhatsoeveronewantsittobe”, to the baritone.

Got my CD yesterday (thanks to this post!)… We love it! A couple notes:
It almost sounds like The Judds put in a guest appearance at the beginning of “Love For Tears”… :)
“Fallen Walls and Open Doors” is great, sounds a bit like Keith Lancaster…
“Takin’ My Time” is my favorite. I’m a softie for “heaven” songs….
My boys like “Hold On”; I also like “Peace Speaker”.
Keep the pressure on these girls, Tom. I’m hoping to hear another album sometime. Don’t let ’em get too lazy!

I suppose that’s true of any other word (or words) as well, then. Just think, Ag, we can both use the same words in the English alphabet and be talking about different things, and therefore not understand each other in the least. Don’t you think that’s just totally spam? It’s lubricated! Well, I’m phasing.
(Paraphrased and adapted from Bill Watterson’s “Calvin & Hobbes”, the best comic strip to ever exist.) :-)

This is by far and away one of the best albums to ever come out of RipChord Studios.
