I never flew on a plane until I was in my mid-20’s or so, quite some long time ago by now. I always wanted to, but never had the chance. We always drove on family vacations and such, and I guess it never worked out.
So the first few times I flew I thought it was pretty cool. That wore off over the years, unfortunately, and now I dread and despise it. Too many bad experiences, and airliners are not built for people of my physical persuasion.
Tomorrow, I try flying with a two and a half week old infant. Somehow I don’t have much hope this will improve the situation!

Speaking as one with experience, we choose to drive for 5 days, across the country, rather than spend 5 hours in an airplane with children. :) With only one, and at yhat age, you should get away with a mostly sleeping baby….plus, her cry isn’t as loud as it will be in a year or so. ;)If she does cry, people will still ooh and ah over her at this point. It will likely bother you guys more than anyone else. Likely. Looking forward to seeing all of you this weekend!

Yeah I flew with Jenson by myself when he was less than two months and it wasn’t too bad. I am dreading the trip back to DE this time though. Because he is a little older and doesn’t like to just sleep his time away. I would like to give a word of advise. Take a stroller. The airlines check it in for you right at the gate and you can load your diaper bag and baby in the stroller rather than hauling her and your carry on around all over the place, and feed her while the plane is landing and taking off so it won’t bother her ears as much. I’m with you on airplane rides I used to get so excited about them now I dread them!!! As far as taking your child it just makes it that much more stressful. Although with two people I am quite sure it is easier than flying by yourself with the baby…that was my great adventure. Wow, I’m not being very encouraging here am I? ;-) I hope you have a good trip anyway despite discouraging comment! :-)

All you need to do is picture utopia upon landing. Heading west can only result in good things. Once you land, my brother, your new baby will be able to experience beauty she has yet to lay her troyer eyes upon. I would not be surprised if Her first question will be ” Why don’t we live here?” Good luck explaining that one. See ya soon. Douglas
