I drove 1,697 miles last weekend to Virginny. That’s a lot of driving, at least for me. And it became increasingly clear throughout that the car needs some attention now too. Balance, alignment, check the brakes, check the AC, and fix the blinkers. Stupid chevy. And some of those things have even just happened in very recent memory.
According to my feeble calculations, I did get 26.7 MPG though. That’s better than I was expecting, especially from a chevy!
I’m proud to say that my Dad raised me to be a Ford man. I’m not proud that most of my life I’ve driven chevys.

Way back in 1981 we took a 1970 Ford F250 to Mexico. Great, great vehicle.
Less way back in 1987 we took a 1976 Chevy Suburban to Mexico. Great, great vehicle. (Click my full name to see it long ago.)
Maybe God blessed them both since they were missionary rigs. (Well, no “maybe” really.)
And maybe Ford and Chevy are equally great vehicles.
Other than that Ford, I’ve driven mostly…oh never mind. Who cares!

My Grandpa raised us on Fords as well. He is probably spinning in his grave. My Mom just bought a Buick

Tom you have to hear this story on Benji Good.
We had a missionary come to Ebenezer and do a slide presentation on the work in Central America where he and his son were doing mechanic work on the vehicles for the mission. Seems that they would take Cummins engines out of Dodges and put them in Fords. Apparently the Ford bodies were a bit stronger than the Dodges.
Anyway, after the presentation, Benji, a die hard Chevy fan, came up and chuckling said that he noticed that they did not have to do any work on the Chevies. The speaker said, “What Chevies? Chevies never get that far south, they die in Mexico on the trip down.” The look on Benji’s face was right comical, but he survived and still likes the Chevies.
Funny tho, he drives a Volvo…….

Tom, I understand completely where you are coming from. Truthseeker raised me up as a Mopar man, with Ford coming in a close second. This was his upbringing as well. However, when Naomi and I shopped for a minivan, we finally settled on a GM. My grandfather….what would he think?
I did do one thing to alleviate my worries, though. I got an aftermarket warranty that covers the first 2 years/25,000 miles. I have used that to replace the A/C condensor, thus far, so that has paid for itself.
My dear wife said it best. “It’s a really nice van, and I think I will learn to like it. But it just feels wrong to be driving a Chevy!”
