Tonight I suggested to my wife that we go out to eat. We both like restaurants, but due to the alarming state of our budget we try not to go out very often. However, we have a gift certificate to use at the Blue Gate! So I figured it was ok this time.
She thought that was a good idea, so off we went to Shipshewana. We were almost there and she said, “Did you bring the gift certificate?”
Oops.
I hate turning around and backtracking, so we kept going anyway. I figured, well, we get to go again before the end of the year!
I had the Amish Country Platter I think it was called. Excellent! Chicken, ham, beef, mashed potaters and gravy, chicken stuffing, corn, garden salad, raspberry iced tea, and pecan pie for dessert. Just wonderful.
Of particular interest was the ham. But it’s kinda late and I think I may pontificate for a while about the ham. So I’ll be back.

Yesterday for lunch I went to Alley Oops and had the 50s style hamburger platter…hokey…me likey their food. But as far as Shipshewana restraunts go, I would take the Blue Gate long before the Essen Haus. Personal Preference.

AHHH! Is it a 50’s Diner? I think those are so cute. I love the little stools and black and white tile floors and pink poodle skirts……..

Has someone drained all the water out of this pool?! {:^)
Tom, did you use a fork at this resturant? or stick to the trusty spoon?
Hi Ag, thanks for all those revealing personality traits on “the other blog” you have graced with your presence, very interesting. I really like your spunk, especially when you write dutch on Dorcas’ blog, kinda like speaking in tongues. {:^)
I like those diners too, unfortunately they keep closing up around here, bummer! Hadn’t thought about the poodle skirts though. See ya, gotta get back to Menno Discuss. {:^)

TS, I bet you think you died and went to the better place. That has so got to be your idea of a good time. You poor man. I think you should get out more.
Hey, I am very witty in dutch! Honest. It pours out of me. And man alive, those women can crank it out! Talk about some spunk and attitude. It all pours from the language. It’s so fun.
By the way, was there any water in the pool to begin with?

Yeah Ag, guess I have found my little heaven in the blogosphere, spent about 12 hrs straight twice this weekend on it and want more, guess it is my life for now. {:^)
I will continue to rest my eyes here and at Darin’s site along with a few others that I find compelling to visit. So I guess I will have to visit with you here rather than MennoDiscuss, right? {;^)
Wish I could learn dutch, be kinda like speaking in tongues! Would make it easier to leave witty messages so folks like you and Dorcas and her lady readers would be the only ones that would understand them.
“By the way, was there any water in the pool to begin with?”
No, *sigh* I guess not! {:^)
