I’m a rabid a cappella quartet freak. I like all kinds. I just came across a file I saved a while ago but forgot about, here is a great resource for some free Wayne Hooper arrangements. They’re mostly hymn-type songs, some real Wayne classics in there.
You quartets download those pdf’s and have at it. Oh that there were much more of this stuff on the internet.
Wayne Hooper of course is long-time genius arranger for the King’s Heralds. AHQ has recorded at least 5 of his songs over the years.

I heard that Voice of Praise has commissioned Wayne Hooper to arrange a song in honor of the group’s 20th anniversary. I think it’s the 20th. At least that’s what my mom told me.

Nathan Good and his wife Mildred actually found out where Mr. Hooper lived and stopped to visit on their way through California. Just walked up to the door and knocked. They went inside and visited with him, never met him before, and Nathan thanked him for all the wonderful men’s arrangements Mr. Hooper had written.

Wayne Hooper has been a close friend of mine for the past 30+ years. Several years ago he developed cancer, and it has been in remission for quite some time. I just found out that it is in full force again, and into the bone structure. Most likely Wayne has less than a year to live. Friends in the Ventura County area are planning a program honoring him in early November. If anyone wishes to pass on short messages, I’ll combine them in a tribute to him. It would be preferred that any words or messages be related to his music contributions, and not about his personal situation. He honored God throughout his career, and we wish to remember his work and efforts. You can email comments to Wayne Woodhams, Ventura, CA. at my email: wwoodhams@adelphia.net
Many thanks.
Wayne

If you like acappella quartets, check out the group in which I sing Tenor, The Emmanuel Quartet. We’ve been together for about 15 years and sing strictly four-part acappella harmony. We’ve experimented with our style over the years, but at our core we’re still gospel/inspirational with a touch of barbershop. Check us out at http://www.emmanuelquartet.org. Wayne Hooper and the King’s Herald’s have always been one of our biggest influences.

As a kid I fell in love with the wonderful sound of the King’s Heralds which my dad played from his record player. I’m in my fifties now but every time I play the music it sounds new and inspiring. Thanks to the good use of the talent, by Wayne Hooper, which the Lord gave him.
