Brett Manning is my future vocal instructor. I haven’t taken his program yet (Singing Success), but I will. I’ve researched it in depth, and it’s right in line with my vocal philosophy. His approach makes perfect sense to me, I believe it’s what I’ve been looking for ever since I started seriously studying voice.
Anyway, even though I’m not enrolled yet, I keep up with him and what he’s doing with his program. A while ago he put a video on Youtube of him running up and down some scales, all over the keyboard. There was some doubt on the internet about his supposed range, so this was his response.
Brett and his goofy hat. Anyway, some genius put together this hilarious parody, and Brett’s video editor saw it and posted about it on one of their websites. I laughed until I cried.

Tom, I think I’ve hit a few of those low notes on some of my finer belches after eating too much watermellon. I was quit please with the sound at the time but never thought of recording it. Next time I’ll try getting my mouth open a little farther like this guy and I might really empress myself. My grandson Blake would probably be the only other person I could impress with the mellow sound coming out of my mouth. Your bro. John

Heh. You can become a dinosaur, too!
As a side note, do post your opinion once you’ve taken the program. I’d be interested in hearing what you think of it.

Being able to generate pitch/tone on a given a note it NOT the same as being able to articulate a given vocal passage with good quality in a way which conveys the musical message of a tender lyric or the power of a virtuoso performance.
Find yourself a REAL voice teacher and not a freak who can screech high notes or belch low ones.
If your looking a some sort of voice building program that does not involve a live teacher check out the Paul Mayo “Road to Better Singing” program.
Cheers!

I agree Coby. A large percentage of the “range” he demonstrates is not necessarily singable or usable in practical singing.
Let me clarify my position when it comes to Brett Manning. I want one thing from him, and that’s to learn how to bridge registers. That’s Brett’s calling card, that’s what he’s known for.
I’ve had several “real” voice teachers who were very good, and I learned a ton from them. However, they really weren’t interested or didn’t have a clue (or both) about bridging registers.
That’s all I want from Brett.
I actually still have some Mayo stuff that you gave to me years ago! That’s all I’ve heard from him, but I really like his stuff on that tape.
