A Big Party at ITF Headquarters
Last Sunday evening all the youth from church came over to our house. There were lots of people here. Lots of shoes too.
One thing that took me quite awhile to get used to here in Hoosierville was the shedding of the shoes. Any time you go over to someone’s house, you take your shoes off just inside the door. That made me uncomfortable for quite awhile, but I’m getting used to it.
Isn’t that like an Oriental custom, or something? And there’s not much about Hoosierville that’s Oriental, so it seems pretty weird to me!
It reminded me of when I was young and wild.

…(“When I was young and wild”, he says)…
Tea, I count at least fifteen pairs of shoes in that foyer. If you can handle fifteen or more youth group members at a time under your roof you’re STILL plenty young & wild.
But despite the perception of Hoosierville courtesy in shoe removal upon entry, isn’t it equally possible that these folks are simply following Biblical tradition of allowing the host to wash their feet when they come to visit ?
And that last photo is interesting. I’m led to believe that everybody’s settling their parking bills before they’re allowed to sit for pudding.
Tell me it ain’t so… GM

Oh that wasn’t all the shoes, just all that fit in the pic! There were probably over 25 guests present.

Wow, that looks a lot warmer than when I was there! Hope you’re done freezing at least until November.

We’ve become official “shoe shedders” and ask that young visitors, who are apt to be off the paved path, take them off as well. We have alot of sand out here, plus, it has helped with the dirt traffic as well. I believe it is also customary in Canada, to remove ones shoes.

In my world, shedding of the shoes is very Canadian, Sir Thomas.
