Went to visit By and Amy this weekend. We drove a total of 1,127 miles, much of it in pouring rain and limited visibility. We spent $32.95 on tolls (legalized robbery), and $93.73 on gas (more of the same). Driving our ’98 Chevy Monte Carlo (overrated GM product), we got 26.38 miles per gallon. That’s not too bad, I figure.
For a Chevy.
Sunday morning I went to the youth guys Sunday School class with By. This little guy who I didn’t know from Adam sits by me and whispers, “This is the youth class, what are you doing here? You’re old!”
I got him back later.

Man, that’s GREAT that ya’ll could all get together despite the distance, but whatz 1127 miles and $126.68 for such a worthy cause, huh.
And what a cute couple ! God for sure works wonders in selecting His little helpers for life’s journeys. Sure hope Amy joins By on his site later on. And I know you’ll all share a blessed life despite ANY distances.
As for the toll road robbery .. we’re just this month getting our first taste of that vile thievery in the Austin “Taxes” area, and it kills my soul that our state leaders sold us out like that. But you still got yerself a sweet ride in that 26+ MPG Monte Carlo. How ’bout a ’97 Chev. pickup at 14 MPG ?
Cute story about your visit to youth class, too… I never spent any time at our youth classes at Calary Austin, but they sometimes show up late & have to spend time with us “old fokes” in the main chapel. And boy do I have fun picking on black-painted nails & pierced body parts. That’ll teach ’em to get to class on time !

Tom, I had someone tell me one time, after I told them I thought they were old, that if I wasn’t careful I wouldn’t make it to the age he was. I then realized the error of my ways and apologized. Also, there needs to be someone to drive the GM vehicles or there would be a LOT of people out of work. Take care, POPS!!!!!

Hey, be careful with the Chevy and GM comments. That car happens to be MINE. I only allow Tom to drive it well…because he’s my husband!
