The very best ice cream will always be the homemade variety--pretty much ANY homemade. Grapenuts (soaked in milk beforehand) was always the standard at our house. When it comes to storebought, my favorite of kinds tried so far is Dreyer's Cookie Dough... Yum! I am not a big ice cream eater (generally only once every few weeks or so, unless there is homemade on hand), but that Cookie Dough stuff keeps me going back for more.

BTW, apparently you and SG still have very similar clothing style taste.

The only time I eat ice cream is when I dunk it in my coffee or when it's Heavenly Hash. I haven't seen that kind down here in the gool ol' US so my grandma usually has some waiting for me at home on those visists.

Thomas, the only thing that "impressed" me was the fact that you posted yet another picture of yourself wearing a gray t-shirt. Sigh.

Boy oh Boy, does this ever bring back memories. Way back in Nebraska, several evenings a week just about the time we were finishing milking the cows dad would say, "Anybody want to turn ice cream?" That meant get the ice, put it in a burlap bag and smash it up small, put the freezer together, get the salt, some water, assemble it all and start cranking. Lots of work, cold on the fingers and maybe late for super. But, I don't ever remember one time that Galen or I didn't jump at the chance. I would still jump at the chance today. Sorry Tom, even the fanciest, gooeyist, call it by a funny name ice cream, nothing can touch the ice cream dad made. Maybe I'm not able to be real objective here, but when you have farm fresh eggs, fresh milk and lots of cream that you just seperated, you can make the best of the best ice cream in the world. Hold on, I've got to go buy a cow, some chickens, a cream seperator and one of the old timey crank freezers so I can have some real ice cream. Oh yeah, I better gets dad's formula as well cuz nobody made it like dad. John

I wonder if we can get that kind here in Utopia? I'd love to try it but I am truly my father's daughter and already love ice cream way too much so the last thing I need is another favorite! Too cold and too milky just never has been a problem for me!

I too remember Grandpa's homemade icecream. It was even better when he'd add stuff to it. My dad has followed in his footsteps..we used to get it with grapenuts or (yum) fresh blackberries! Was even worth pickin' em for it. Your new icecream sounds like heaven for my kids, and like too much excitement for me! :)
