I was walking to my car in the parking lot after church this morning, and saw six minivans in a row. Of the 9 cars in that row, 7 were minivans. I started surveying the rest of the parking lot. Good gravy! Am I the only one not showing up in a minivan !!
I started counting. And counting. And counting. There were 20 minivans in the parking lot! Church attendance last Sunday was 144, there weren’t near that many today I wouldn’t think. So I doubt there were over 20 other cars in the parking lot!
What does this say about us? Nothing profound, I’m sure. Just that there are a lot of kids at church I guess.
But I am glad it’s not me driving the shoebox on wheels, I don’t care for them very much.

It’s a rite of familyhood, I’m telling you.

Tom, if and when you and Jewel have children, you will come to realize that minivans are the greatest things since disposable diapers and Cheerios. And you’ll probably vacuum up several pounds of the latter out of your first minivan, too. :)

Tom–I must agree w/ Beverly–just wait til you have 3 or 4 kiddos of your own and you are car-pooling however many kiddos you can stick in your mini van back and forth to school and other such activities and then we’ll see what you say about mini vans!!!:)

Have you seen the number of kids at church? There’s like twenty 1-6 years olds.

There are lots of them frequenting our church parking lot as well. I think it’s kinda funny. The reason there are so many of them is because the ladies don’t want to drive the big 12 passsenger vans…..

Bite your tongue! Shoebox on wheels indeed. It’s an over-sized taxi, and the correct term is “belly button car”…everybody has one. I can’t wait to see you cram even ONE child in an infant carrier in a camaro or some other “sporty car”. Be sure your web cam is tuned into that scene. :)
